Native Texan: An East Texas banker takes the money and runs, sparks financial panic ... in 1903

Benjamin Wettermark was a leading citizen of Nacogdoches when he absconded with bank funds in 1903. It took the community years to recover from the treachery, and heirs were in court still trying to recover losses as recently as 2006.
